For almost twenty years, the Akaroa Music Festival has been bringing world-class musicians to Banks Peninsula while providing life-changing opportunities for talented young artists. As we prepare to celebrate our 20th Festival in January 2027, we invite you to become part of this remarkable story.

The Festival masterclasses are at the heart of everything we do. Each year, outstanding young musicians from New Zealand and abroad  come to Akaroa for an intensive 10 days of lessons, chamber music, rehearsals and performances with internationally acclaimed artists. Many of our alumni have gone on to successful careers as performers, teachers and members of leading orchestras around the world.

For these students, attending the Festival is often a turning point. It provides not only exceptional musical training but also invaluable mentorship, friendships and professional connections that last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, rising travel and accommodation costs mean that some exceptionally talented students are finding it increasingly difficult to attend. We never want financial circumstances to prevent a deserving young musician from taking part.

Your support can make a real difference.

A donation to the Akaroa Music Festival Scholarship Fund helps us provide financial assistance to students who would otherwise miss this unique opportunity. Every contribution, large or small, goes directly towards helping talented young musicians participate in the Academy.

There are other ways to help too. During the Festival we also rely on the generosity of the Akaroa community to billet students and young artists. Opening your home for a few nights not only reduces costs for students but also creates friendships and connections that have become a treasured part of the Festival experience.
