The application fee of NZ$70 and half of the course fee must be paid with the application by the due date; the remainder of the course fee is due on arrival in Akaroa. In the case of unsuccessful applications the fees will be refunded. Observer cards may be purchased at the festival office which is located at the Akaroa Area School during the duration of the festival.
All applications are due by Friday 27th November 2009. Late entries only permitted if spaces available.

General Conditions

The masterclasses are open to University music students and school students. Students under the age of fourteen must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. At the discretion of the organisers, applicants may be asked to audition, either taped or in person. Passive participation as a listener is possible.

The festival consists of masterclasses, string orchestra rehearsals and concerts. The final concert will be played by the chamber orchestra, which will be formed by students of the string classes. Participation is obligatory. The staff will decide who is participating in the orchestra and will also choose potential soloists for this concert. The solo repertoire prepared for the courses should be indicated in detail. All participants will receive free entry to any public concert organised by the International Akaroa Summer Festival except the events at the French Farm.
There are a limited number of practice rooms available.

All lessons will be at the Akaroa Area School or next door at the Gaiety Hall.

ACCOMMODATION

The INTERNATIONAL AKAROA SUMMER FESTIVAL can arrange accommodation. A limited number of houses and backpackers accommodation are available on a first come first serve basis. Please indicate on the application if you want the Akaroa Summer Festival to arrange accommodation.

Accommodation prices organised by the International Akaroa Summer Festival will be NZ$40 (day/person). This must be paid at the time of application. This will be refunded in the case of unsuccessful applications.

The organiser of the International Akaroa Summer Festival is not liable for accidents, damage or loss under any circumstances.
