Laoise O’Brien

Laoise O’Brien Laoise O’Brien studied recorder at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam under
Paul Leenhouts and Walter van Hauwe.

In 2005 Laoise completed a Masters in Performance and Musicology at NUI Maynooth.

Laoise has performed extensively throughout Ireland, the UK, Europe, North America and most recently New Zealand, where she was a guest artist at the Recorder 2006 Festival in Wellington.

As a soloist, Laoise appears regularly with the Irish Baroque Orchestra and has performed concerti under Monica Huggett, Nicholas Kraemer and Elizabeth Wallfisch.

Laoise lectures at the Cork School of Music and at the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, Dublin where she is the early music co-ordinator.

Laoise is also the manager of the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble who gave the opening gala concert at the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) conference in Killarney in July 2007.
