German violinist Eckhard Fischer studied violin with Ricardo Odnoposoff and with Joseph Gingold at Indiana University Bloomington (USA), chamber music with Gyorgy Sebok, Leon Fleisher, Trio di Trieste, the Melos - and Amadeus Quartets and conducting with Alexander Sumski.
In 1978 he was first prizewinner of the S-3 music prize by the Southern German Radio and TV station.
In 1985 he founded the piano trio “Trio op.8”. They won several competitions, including Mendelssohn Wettbewerb, Berlin, Colmar, Florence and Bordeaux.
Since 1990 he is Professor for violin at the Hochschule für Musik, Detmold (Germany). In 1996 he took over the artistic direction of the “Detmolder Kammerorchester” (founded by Tibor Varga).
