Anthony Ferner

Anthony FernerAnthony Ferner graduated in music from the University of Canterbury. He studies at the Guildhall School of Music London, with Peter Lloyd, William Bennett and Trevor Wye and classes with James Galway and Jean Pierre Rampal.

Presently he is Principal Flute of the Christchurch Symphony and lecturer in Flute at the University of Canterbury where he was recently appointed a Senior Fellow.

Prior to 1996 he lived in Australia he played principal flute in the Sydney Symphony and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. In two intervening years he worked in Milan.

He studied conducting at the St Petersburg Conservatory in 1992. He has conducted both concert and opera repertoire in Australia and New Zealand.
